Laurent Fetis

In typical Parisian style, Laurent Fetis moves tastefully and effortlessly between the worlds of music, fashion, and film, bestowing on each his sensual sensibility and keen eye for layout and type. In recent years, he’s been behind a number of highly visible music projects, including the poster for Beck’s Sea Change tour, cover design for Tahiti 80 and DJ Hell’s NY Muscle, and realizing videos for M83 and DJ Mehdi with Elisabeth Arkhipoff. (The duo’s work was chronicled in volume 12 of Japanese publication Gasbook.)

His favorite recent client is the Paris Social Club, a French nightlife staple that’s hosted the crème de la crème of local DJs ( including Justice, the Institubes crew, and disco dollies D-I-R-T-Y Soundsystem, for whom Fetis also works). Fetis is behind the club’s logos and marketing materials, and he also art-directs their bi-monthly newsprint zine, which has featured contributions from Will Sweeney, So-Me, and Zongamin.

Slightly more under the radar are Fetis’ classy layout skills, which he’s put to use for a number of books and art show catalogues (Pompidou Center, the Paris Museum of Modern Art, Gilbert & George). His latest work is crafting Sonia Rykiel, a 40-year retrospective of the fashion designer that will be released in April by Rizzoli USA.
