David Horvitz

David Horvitz sends us delightful emails that sound like his brain is blogging directly to our inbox, full of awesome links and little anecdotes. They are not unlike his photographs and conceptual artworks, which are global in scope but human in focus.

Horvitz is probably best-known in the indie scene for the book of Polaroids he did with Xiu Xiu, but he’s more or less constantly in motion. Recent projects traverse all modern media, including picture discs, posters, window installation, zines, and blogs. He stole Pinocchio costumes from a Paul McCarthy art piece and filmed himself getting tackled by a gallery security guard. He’s designed the cover of NYC zine Showpaper, which covers local noise and punk gigs. But in order to fully understand his work, it would behoove you to check out his website, where he makes viewers a part of myriad number of art pieces, most of which involve a camera, the US postal service, and all sorts of special adventures.
