Craig Metzger

Skate bros know Craig Metzger for his board graphics but he’s done heaps more behind the scenes of the streetwear scene, offering creative direction to elevate the profile of brands like Etnies, Element, and Incase, as well as serving as a contributing editor of Arkitip magazine for nearly 20 issues. He’s also known as the man behind the Instant Winner skate brand, which is relaunching this spring.

Born in Queens, but calling SoCal home, Metzger’s work is frequently inspired by the great outdoors, as a recent t-shirt, emblazoned with a wolf standing in front of the cosmos, attests. More nature themes can be found in his personal work, which he has shown at galleries including San Jose’s Anno Domini and Philadelphia’s 222.

Metzger still sometimes operates under the name Engine System, but he’s since turned that web domain into a hub for inspiring Q&As with artist pals such as Todd St. John and Michael Leon.
